Getting there
Flying - Denver International Airport
If you are coming in from out of town, the best way is to fly into Denver via DIA. It's a pretty big airport, lots of cool art and a few conspiracy theories, and you can get to it directly from pretty much anywhere.
Driving
The easiest way to get to Grand Lake is to rent a car. The town is about 2.5 hours from the airport via Berthoud Pass. You can also take the scenic way through Rocky Mountain National Park, which takes about 3 hours (not including all the stops you are going to want to take!).
Berthoud Pass
Head west on I-70 from Pena Boulevard after leaving the Airport, take exit 232 for US-40 West toward Winter Park, and follow US-40 over Berthoud Pass. Continue on US-40 through Winter Park and Granby. At Granby, turn right onto US-34 North, which takes you up towards Grand Lake. The turn off for Grand Lake Lodge is about 1 mile north of the turn off into town.
Rocky Mountain National Park via Trailridge Road
Head west on I-70 from Pena Boulevard after leaving the Airport, then head north on I-270 until US-36 West toward Estes Park. Enter Rocky Mountain National Park via the Beaver Meadows Entrance and follow Trail Ridge Road (US-34) west across the Continental Divide to Grand Lake. Note that a timed entry reservation is required to enter Rocky Mountain National Park during the summer season, even for pass-through traffic.
